How to choose a DUERP and occupational safety tool
A useful tool must reflect real work, work units and prevention actions. Start with the job to do: create a DUERP, address a specific risk, or manage updates and follow-up.
Choose by need
| Assess risks and create a DUERP | Choose a tool suited to the organisation’s sector and size, with a way to describe work situations and track preventive measures. |
|---|---|
| Host the system yourself | DigiRisk is a free, open-source Dolibarr module; it suits organisations able to install and administer their own instance. |
| Start with an online sector pathway | OiRA provides free sector-based questionnaires and guides assessment and prevention actions. |
| Assess chemical risk | Seirich, free INRS software, helps list products, assess and prioritise chemical risk and plan actions. |
| Address psychosocial risks | The INRS “Faire le point RPS” tool targets small businesses and should be used in full, without modification. |
Checks before choosing
- Check which roles, work units and situations are covered; adapt pre-filled risk libraries to the actual workplace.
- Ensure preventive actions can have an owner, due date and status, and that update history is retained.
- Check coverage of relevant specific risks: chemicals, psychosocial factors, manual handling, machinery, traffic or multiple sites.
- Compare hosting, worker access, backups, document export and recurring costs; distinguish software price from setup or advisory costs.
Comparison of selected tools and resources
Indicative, non-exhaustive selection. A focused resource such as the psychosocial risk tool does not replace a full workplace risk assessment process. Information checked on 2026-09-26.
